Why Raw Tanzanite

Tanzanite is one of the rarest gemstones on earth, found in only one location in the world: a small area of a few square miles near Mount Kilimanjaro in northern Tanzania. It is a variety of the mineral zoisite, its extraordinary blue-violet color the result of vanadium content and heat treatment during formation. First discovered in 1967 and named by Tiffany and Co. after its country of origin. A December birthstone, associated with the third eye chakra (Ajna). How This Handmade Tanzanite Ring Is Made

Each raw tanzanite stacking ring is made to order in my small Santa Fe studio. I hand-select every stone for its color and natural form, then encase it in copper using traditional electroforming techniques. Copper grows directly around the stone through an electrical process, forming the slim band organically. No mass production, no shortcuts. Every handmade ring from this studio is one of a kind.

Care

Remove before swimming, showering, or applying lotions. Store dry. Tanzanite is relatively soft and sensitive to sudden temperature changes, so treat gently and avoid hard impacts. Let the copper patina deepen naturally with wear, or polish gently with a soft cloth to brighten.
