The Crown Chakra

In the chakra system originating in ancient Indian tantric traditions, Sahasrara is the highest of the seven energy centers. It is associated with pure consciousness, spiritual connection, and the dissolution of the boundary between self and everything else. Its practices include meditation, silence, time in nature, and the cultivation of gratitude and wonder. Crown chakra work is not about leaving the body or escaping ordinary life. It is about finding the depth and meaning that is already present in ordinary life, when the mind is quiet enough to perceive it.

Clear Quartz

Silicon dioxide in its purest form, forming six-sided prisms that terminate in a point. Optically transparent, piezoelectric, and one of the most structurally perfect minerals on earth. Associated with clarity, amplification, and the full-spectrum expression of light. For the crown chakra, clear quartz supports the quality of clear perception, the ability to see what is actually present rather than what the mind projects. The most versatile stone in the collection and the one that works with every other stone.

Amethyst

A purple variety of quartz, colored by iron impurities and natural irradiation. The color ranges from pale lavender through deep violet-purple. Found in Brazil, Uruguay, Zambia, and Madagascar. One of the most widely used stones for meditation and spiritual practice across cultures. Associated with calm, clarity, and the quieting of mental noise. The February birthstone. Can fade in prolonged direct sunlight, store away from strong light.

Selenite

A crystalline form of gypsum forming in long translucent white blades. Named for Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon. Associated with clarity, cleansing, and the clearing of energetic residue. For the crown chakra, selenite supports the quality of stillness and receptivity that makes deeper perception possible. One of the softest stones in the collection at 2 on the Mohs scale. Keep away from water, which will dissolve it over time.

Lepidolite

A lithium-rich mica mineral occurring in lavender to purple, sometimes with pink or grey tones. Found primarily in Brazil, Russia, and the United States. Contains lithium, the same element used in psychiatric medication for mood stabilization. Associated with calm, emotional balance, and the reduction of anxiety and mental chatter. For the crown chakra, lepidolite supports the quieting of the mind that makes higher perception accessible. One of the more unusual stones in this collection and worth seeking out for its particular quality of stillness.

Moonstone

A feldspar mineral with adularescence, a floating billowing light effect caused by light scattering between microscopic layers within the stone. Associated with intuition, the lunar cycle, and the receptive, non-linear quality of perception that the crown chakra governs. Found in Sri Lanka, India, and Madagascar. The traditional birthstone for June.

Apophyllite

A phyllosilicate mineral forming in glassy, highly reflective pyramidal crystals, typically colorless to pale green. Found primarily in India, particularly in the Deccan Traps basalt formations. One of the most visually striking minerals in the collection, with a clarity and brilliance that approaches gemstone quality in its finest specimens. Associated with spiritual connection, clarity, and the opening of the crown and third eye. Less commonly used in jewelry than the other stones in this collection, which makes pieces featuring it genuinely unusual.

Materials and Care

All pieces are set in electroformed copper or wire-wrapped brass, handcrafted in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Selenite must be kept away from water. Amethyst and lepidolite should be stored away from direct sunlight. Remove all pieces before water and chemicals. Store dry. Copper develops a natural patina over time.
