Carnelian

A red-orange variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline quartz, colored by iron oxide. One of the oldest stones used in jewelry, found in ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Mesopotamian contexts for thousands of years. Associated with creativity, courage, and the motivation to act on what you imagine. For creative work specifically, carnelian supports the translation of vision into action: the willingness to begin, to make the first mark, to commit to the direction before the outcome is guaranteed. One of the most consistently useful stones for people who struggle with starting.

Sunstone

A feldspar mineral with aventurescence, a glittering optical effect caused by reflective inclusions of hematite or goethite within the stone. Warm orange to peach in color, with a metallic shimmer that shifts as the stone moves. Found in Norway, India, Canada, and the United States, particularly Oregon. Associated with leadership, joy, and the full expression of personal creative power. For motivation work, sunstone supports the quality of enthusiasm: the genuine pleasure in the work itself that sustains effort past the point where discipline alone would give out.

Orange Calcite

Calcium carbonate in bright orange to amber, often with a soft translucency. Associated with creative energy, playfulness, and the release of creative blocks. For creativity work, orange calcite supports the quality of lightness: the ability to approach the work without the weight of perfectionism or the fear of failure, to make something without needing it to be immediately good. Softer than quartz at 3 on the Mohs scale. Keep away from acids and prolonged water exposure.

Citrine

Quartz colored yellow to amber by iron impurities or by the natural irradiation of amethyst over geological time. Associated with abundance, optimism, and the confidence to pursue what you want to make. For creativity and motivation work, citrine supports the quality of forward momentum: the belief that the work is worth doing and that you are capable of doing it. Store away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Bumblebee Jasper

Not technically a jasper but a sedimentary rock formed from volcanic matter, including sulfur, hematite, anhydrite, and arsenic sulfide, found only near active fumaroles in the Mount Papandayan volcano in West Java, Indonesia. The distinctive yellow, orange, black, and white banding is caused by the layering of different volcanic minerals during formation. It is one of the most visually striking stones in the collection and one of the rarest in terms of its geological origin. Associated with creativity, change, and the energy required to do something genuinely new.

Important note: raw bumblebee jasper contains arsenic sulfide and should not be handled with bare hands for extended periods or ingested. All bumblebee jasper pieces in this collection are finished and sealed, making them safe to wear. Do not use to make gem elixirs or infused water.

Materials and Care

All pieces are set in electroformed copper or wire-wrapped brass, handcrafted in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Orange calcite is soft and should be kept away from acids and prolonged water exposure. Citrine should be stored away from direct sunlight. Remove all pieces before water and chemicals. Store dry. Copper develops a natural patina over time.
