Seven raw black tourmaline stones, dark and striated as the earth they came from, arranged in a V and set in antique copper electroformed cups. The warm oxidized copper makes the jet black read deep and immediate, each stone cradled in its own cup of metal that grew around it, shaped entirely to that one stone. No two settings are the same. Black tourmaline in its raw rod form carries something grounding and protective. This ring is for the ones who need something that holds.
Black tourmaline is associated with protection, grounding, and energetic boundaries. It is connected to the root chakra and the energy of stability and shielding. Wear it when you need to feel rooted, protected, and clear.
Why Black Tourmaline
Black tourmaline, or schorl, is the most common variety of the tourmaline group, found in granitic pegmatites and metamorphic rocks on every continent. Its characteristic striated prismatic crystals form naturally in long rods with a glassy to resinous luster. In raw form the crystal surfaces are unpolished and immediate, showing the natural growth lines of the mineral. Black tourmaline is widely associated with energetic protection and grounding in stone traditions across cultures. No mystical claims. Just a striking dark mineral with a meaning that fits real life.

How This Handmade Black Tourmaline Ring Is Made
Each stone is hand-selected for its natural rod character before the ring is built up around it through an electrolytic copper electroforming process. The copper grows directly around each stone, forming a cup shaped to that exact piece, completely unique to each ring. The chevron arc is shaped by hand, and the antique finish is applied to deepen the oxidation and bring out the warmth and texture of the electroformed surface.
A Note on Stone Variation
Black tourmaline is a natural stone and each piece will vary slightly in crystal size, surface texture, and rod formation. Your ring will be similar to the one shown but entirely one of a kind.
Care
Black tourmaline is relatively durable but avoid hard impacts on the rod ends. Remove before swimming, bathing, or applying lotions and perfumes. Store dry. The antique copper finish will develop a natural patina over time, which only deepens the character of the piece. A light buff with a soft cloth will restore the warm copper glints if desired.

About Electroforming
Electroforming is an ancient technique reimagined for modern jewelry.
Copper molecules bond to each stone over several hours, creating organic textures and secure settings. Learn more about our process.
Each ring is electroformed in pure copper, a process that uses electricity to slowly grow metal over organic forms, stone, or wax-carved bases.
This ancient-meets-modern technique creates natural textures and one-of-a-kind variations — no two pieces will ever be the same.
All rings are nickel-free, can be sealed for daily wear, and finished by hand in our Santa Fe studio.
For centuries, copper has been worn as a grounding element — believed to balance energy, support circulation, and keep the wearer anchored in presence. It reminds us of our connection to the earth and our ability to return to stillness.

Care & Patina
Electroformed copper develops a natural patina over time — deepening into warm, earthy tones that tell the story of your wear.
To maintain brightness, polish gently with a soft cloth or a touch of lemon and salt.
To preserve the aged finish, simply wipe clean and store in a dry place.
Avoid wearing your jewelry while swimming, showering, or applying lotions, as moisture may alter the patina over time.
Copper Protection
Embrace the Patina
Some collectors love the rich, aged look that copper develops over time. This natural patina tells a story—of adventures taken, energies absorbed, and the passage of time. If you resonate with that earthy, vintage look, feel free to let your copper evolve organically.
Why add lacquer?
- Slows the natural darkening (patina) of copper
- Minimizes the chance of skin reactions
- Keeps copper looking brighter for longer
- Protects while preserving the earthy character of your jewelry
