A raw black tourmaline rod, capped in electroformed copper and suspended from a stainless steel chain. Small, solid, and quietly powerful — this is a piece for anyone who wants to carry something real. The natural striated surface of the tourmaline catches light differently at every angle, and the copper cap follows the exact contour of the stone. Made by hand in Santa Fe, New Mexico, each pendant is one of a kind. Worn by women and men alike.
Black tourmaline is associated with protection, grounding, and energetic shielding. A stone for staying rooted when the world feels loud. Wear it when you need to feel steady.
Why Black Tourmaline
Black tourmaline is a boron silicate mineral that crystallizes in striated hexagonal rods — those natural vertical grooves you can see and feel on the surface are part of its crystal structure, not damage. It is one of the most electrically active minerals on earth, generating a weak electrical charge when heated or compressed (piezoelectricity). It is associated with Scorpio and Capricorn and the root chakra. No mystical claims. Just a beautiful, ancient mineral with a meaning that fits real life.

How This Handmade Tourmaline Necklace Is Made
Each tourmaline rod is hand-selected for its natural form and surface character, then electroformed in copper — a slow process where copper is grown molecule by molecule directly onto the top of the stone. The result is a cap that follows every contour of the tourmaline exactly, with a thick, textured surface that develops a warm patina over time. No two pendants are identical.
A Note on Stone Variation
Raw black tourmaline rods vary in size, the depth of their natural striations, and the exact shape of the fractured base. Some lean more matte black, others show a subtle iridescent sheen in direct light. This variation is the nature of the stone and what makes each piece one of a kind.
Care
Black tourmaline is relatively durable but avoid hard impacts on the rod ends which can chip. Remove before swimming, bathing, or applying lotions and perfumes. Copper will develop a natural patina over time — embrace it or gently polish with a soft cloth. Stainless steel chain is water-resistant but store dry. Store in a dry place.

Materials & Metals
Each necklace is handcrafted from raw copper, and may include elements of brass, bronze, silver, or stainless steel, paired with carefully chosen stones, crystals, or natural elements.
Every piece is shaped by hand through the slow process of electroforming — a melding of earth, metal, and time that creates unique textures and forms.
All metals are nickel-free and sealed for comfortable, daily wear. Slight variations in color, texture, or patina are natural signs of the handmade process — each one-of-a-kind, just like its wearer.
Chain Options
Necklaces are available in a variety of lengths to fit every ritual and style:
- 16–18 inches – sits high at the collarbone
- 20–22 inches – a classic mid-chest length
- 24–30 inches – longer talisman style for layering
Chain styles may include cable, rolo, or oxidized link, chosen to complement each pendant’s design.
Leather Option
Select designs feature a soft, durable leather cord, fully adjustable from 12 to 24 inches.
Leather cords offer a grounded, natural feel and can be worn short as a choker or long for layering — making them versatile for both men’s and women’s styles.
Care & Maintenance
All metals and leather will naturally age with time and wear — it’s part of their alchemy.
To maintain brightness, polish gently with a soft cloth. To preserve patina or aged finish, simply wipe clean and store in a dry place. Avoid prolonged contact with water, lotion, or perfume.
Remove before showering or swimming. Use a soft cloth; avoid abrasive polishing on patinated copper.
Copper Protection
Embrace the Patina
Some collectors love the rich, aged look that copper develops over time. This natural patina tells a story—of adventures taken, energies absorbed, and the passage of time. If you resonate with that earthy, vintage look, feel free to let your copper evolve organically.
Why add lacquer?
- Slows the natural darkening (patina) of copper
- Minimizes the chance of skin reactions
- Keeps copper looking brighter for longer
- Protects while preserving the earthy character of your jewelry
