What Makes a Crystal Ring

A crystal ring at Blackbird and Sage starts with stone selection. The stone has to be large enough to anchor the piece, interesting enough in form or color to carry the design, and structurally sound enough to survive electroforming and daily wear. Raw stones with natural points, clusters, or irregular faces work particularly well — the electroformed copper wraps around every contour, creating a setting that is unique to that exact stone. No two are identical.

The crystal ring collection draws from across the full range of stones we work with: raw labradorite with its shifting iridescence, deep purple amethyst points, black tourmaline rods, raw moonstone, turquoise, garnet, citrine, and more. Sizing

Most crystal rings are made to order in your size. Because the stone is the starting point and each stone is different, sizing is built around the specific piece. Ring size is specified at checkout. Electroformed Copper

Every setting is electroformed — copper deposited through an electrical current directly onto the stone, building up a solid band and setting in a single continuous piece. The process takes hours. The copper has a warm rose-copper tone when fresh and develops a darker patina with wear. The band is solid, not hollow, and built to last through daily use.

Care

Remove before water, swimming, dishes, and lotions. Store dry. Copper develops a natural patina over time — a warm darkening that most wearers prefer. Polish gently with a soft cloth if you want a brighter finish. Some stones require additional care: turquoise and opal should be kept away from chemicals and prolonged moisture.
