A custom necklace is built around you: your stone, your chain length, your intention. These are not personalized in the monogram sense. They are made to order in the material sense, starting from the stone you choose and the form that suits how you wear jewelry. Every custom necklace from Blackbird and Sage is made by hand in Santa Fe, New Mexico, one at a time, and does not exist until you order it.

How Custom Orders Work
Select the listing that matches the style you want: electroformed copper pendant, wire-wrapped setting, raw point on a satellite chain, or another form from the collection. Specify your stone preference and chain length in the order notes, or reach out before ordering if you want to discuss options. We will confirm availability and any details before beginning. Most custom necklaces are completed within one to two weeks from confirmation.
Stone Selection
Custom necklaces can be made with any stone we currently have in the studio. The range includes labradorite, moonstone, amethyst, black tourmaline, turquoise, citrine, garnet, rose quartz, malachite, clear quartz, and others depending on current stock. If you have a specific stone in mind that is not listed, reach out and we will let you know if we can source it. Each stone is selected by hand for color, form, and quality before it enters the making process.
Chain Length
Standard chain lengths are 16 inches (choker), 18 inches (collarbone), 20 inches (mid-chest), and 24 inches (sternum). Custom lengths are available on request. If you are unsure which length suits you, measure a necklace you already wear and enjoy, or reach out for guidance before ordering.
The Making Process
Custom necklaces are made using the same process as all Blackbird and Sage jewelry: electroformed copper deposited directly onto the stone through an electrical current, or wire-wrapped in brass or copper. The process takes hours and cannot be rushed. The result is a setting that grew around your specific stone, not a standard mount the stone was pressed into.
Shipping
Custom necklaces ship within one to two weeks of order confirmation via USPS First Class with tracking. Gift packaging is included. Add a message in your order notes and we will include a handwritten note card.
Returns
Custom and made-to-order pieces are not eligible for return unless there is a defect in the work. Please review stone options and chain lengths carefully before ordering, and reach out with any questions before purchasing.
