Found worldwide in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rock. Associated with strength, focus, and physical vitality. The weight of hematite is immediately noticeable when worn — it is a stone you feel.

Smoky Quartz

Quartz that has been naturally irradiated over millions of years, turning it from clear to warm brown or grey-black. The color comes from free silicon formed from silicon dioxide by natural radiation. Found in granite formations worldwide, particularly in the Alps, Brazil, and Scotland, where it is the national gemstone. Associated with grounding, calm, and the quiet release of what is no longer needed. One of the most wearable of the darker stones.

Red Jasper

An opaque microcrystalline quartz colored red by iron oxide inclusions. One of the most ancient stones used by humans — found in archaeological sites across every inhabited continent, used for tools, seals, and amulets. Associated with physical strength, endurance, and connection to the earth. The red comes from the same iron that colors blood and soil. A deeply terrestrial stone.

Petrified Wood

Ancient wood that has been replaced molecule by molecule with silica over millions of years, preserving the original cellular structure of the tree in stone. What you hold is a record of a living thing that existed before humans. Found in the American Southwest, Madagascar, Indonesia, and elsewhere. Associated with patience, deep time, and the kind of stability that comes from having been through everything. One of the most unusual materials we work with.

Black Onyx

A banded variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline quartz. The black color is typically enhanced through a dyeing process that has been used since ancient Rome — natural black onyx exists but is rare. Used in cameos, intaglios, and mourning jewelry throughout history. Associated with self-discipline, focus, and the steady accumulation of strength over time.

Materials and Care

All pieces are set in electroformed copper or wire-wrapped brass, handcrafted in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Remove before water and chemicals. Store dry. Copper develops a natural patina over time.
